Michael Ryan Lobel was born on March 7, 1984 in Toronto , Ontario , Canada . He became interested in music and visual arts at a very young age. This soon drew him to Etobicoke School of the Arts. Mike attended ESA from 1998 to 2003. He first majored in music studying percussion. Then he changed gears a bit and switched to drama. . It was in his graduating year at ESA that Mike began working as an actor. Mike made his film debut in 2003 playing small role as a street thug in “Twist”. Soon Mike was cast in the popular series “Degrassi: The Next Generation” in its fourth season as Jay Hogart. Mike was cast in the CBC 2006 TV special “Booky Makes Her Mark” as Lorne with his Degrassi: TNG co-stars Lauren Collins (Paige) and Stacey Farber (Ellie). In November 2006, Mike took part in "A Brush of Hope," a Kidney Foundation fundraiser with fellow cast members where each star painted a canvas with a design of their choice.
